Hello everyone, My name is Cristina McQuade. I’m currently a Junior, at Washington State University, studying Communication and French. I grew up in Washington and knew I wanted to stay somewhere relatively close to my family. My parents have been great role models for me throughout my entire life. My dad owned his own company and was successful in his business, while my mom stayed at home to help educate my older sister and I while also teaching at a foreign language school. I grew up bi-lingual and because of this I have always been passionate about learning more languages. In high-school I learned a bit of Spanish and now I am studying French. Another aspect of my childhood that played a role in shaping me would be our love for food. My family is full of foodies, and growing up in a multicultural home I learned not only about the cultures bout about the importance of food. Food has been a way of bonding for my family. Ever since I was a young child we would have every dinner at the kitchen table as a family. Some of my favorite memories were made at that table, because dinner meant time as a family to connect. Because of this food has an importance to me. I also grew up eating organic food, and having a healthy diet has been important throughout my life.
Additionally, I am involved in greek life and hold a position on the executive board for my chapter. I work as the vice president of campus relations and oversee the community service chair and philanthropy chair. I look forward to potentially starting my own business just as my father did, but definitely some company that has a strong emphasis on philanthropy. I’m not exactly sure what this may look like but I have an open mind and would love doing some non-profit work.
